When researching the Mid-Century Modern Era, the themes of timelessness , simplicity, functionality, and collaboration were apparent. These artist and designers were striving to make products and things that lasted and were able to be understood in a wide range of context. We took these things into consideration while we built the brand.

OUR BRAND

When talking about the logistics of Murphy Studios, the topic of how and where you could access Murphy Studios videos and products came up. We decided that we wanted to make it accessible to as many people as possible, and to do this we wanted to make the videos free to access by anyone who wanted to watch them.
How do we do this and still make sure we are able to continue longer term?
We made the videos free to access on Murphy Studios Website, and run by donations and purchasing merch and the interactive work books.
We didn't want money to be the reason children were unable to learn about Design History, so we also have the ability to get books donated to classrooms and prices adjusted to make it possible.

The ideas, values, and designs of these artist and designers are still recognizable
and influential in society today and teaching the next generation the beauty and
power that their work and processes and inspiring them to find their own passions
and process that can help them create wonderful and innovative new things.

The Saul Bass Interactive Activity Book
Learning doesn't just happening by viewing or hearing but from doing. The interactive activities book provides guide to understanding and practicing each artist, and designers philosophies and practices. For Saul Bass we focused on storytelling while using simple forms, poster making, personal style, and created activities that references some of Saul Bass' most popular and recognizable work.

Another major influence to our decision making about with Murphy Studio
comes from the quote above by Charles and Ray Eames. This quote, "The best
for the most for the least" not only defines the Mid-Century Modern era, but the
way we view education.
I believe teaching, learning and education should be accessible to everyone and
high quality education at that. We believe in the power of learning and inspiring
passion through creativity and trial and error. We are capable of wonderful things
and finding our passions and talents we can developing them to do great things
and create endless possibilities.

in doing so were inspired by Saul Bass' title sequences.
This began the basis of our company, but also the style and
designer we choose to be our season preview trailer to
demonstrate the style and how the company works.

EVERY CHILD
DESERVES THE
ABILITY TO LOVE
DESIGN HISTORY
We all have a beautiful ability to dream and think creatively and to make new innovations beyond our wildest dreams. Cultivating this from a young age is incredibly important so that they know there are no bounds to what they can do.
Community is not only important because it helps provides support, and exposes us to different view points. Many of the best designs and works have sprouted from partnerships.
Learning is something we never finish doing. The more we know the more possibilities we have to discover new passions and dreams. Learning is one of many ways that we can find inspiration, and from that become better as people and in whatever we decide to do with our lives.
